8 Adorable Halloween Costumes for Babies and Toddlers
Not gonna lie, this year I’m super excited to dress both a toddler and a baby for Halloween once Baby Girl makes her grand old entrance to the world. Double the cuteness, double the fun! Since I’ll be a sleep deprived mama with a newborn, we’ll probably not go the DIY route this year when dressing up our littles. And I’m beyond excited to explore our costume options! Few things in life cause me to swoon more than babies in costume. As an adult I’ve found practically inordinate amounts of joy passing out candies on Halloween, watching the ghosts and goblins toddle, skip, or saunter up to grab a fist full of sugary treats. And, as a parent, dressing up kids? Even better! One of the trickiest parts, though, is choosing a costume that not only looks adorable, but also meets the practical nature of dressing babies and toddlers. Between the need to keep kids comfy, warm, and dressed without spending a ton of money, there are a number of considerations to keep in mind other than cuteness. Want to know more? My Favorite Recommendations for Lil Halloween Costumes
Why do I love these outfits? For a number of reasons! Each was chosen for a particular reason (other than, of course, being adorable although that certainly played into the decision making! Read on below to learn more or click the image to jump to the product page!
Baby Mermaid Costume
This adorable mermaid costume is a great choice for an infant or newborn who wants to party, but isn’t quite ready to leave the house. And, okay, yes, the sea shell bra is a little over the top. But it’s a halloween costume after all! The material is knit and cozy, which would be comfy next to a wee little one’s skin. The reviews all mention how well made the pieces are, and because the fabric is knit, it’ll have some good stretch to it.
Sweet Tiger Outfit
This tiger halloween costume would be a really great choice for a wiggly one. The booties are attached, which means the paws won’t be falling off all night. And while the hood is a separate piece, it wraps well around the chin for a good, relatively secure fit.
Baby Ninja Turtle Outfit
I’ve included this fun ninja turtle outfit among my halloween costume recommendations for two reasons. First, the outfit would be a breeze to put and keep on. And, second, look at that hat! It’d definitely stay on a baby’s head since it’s pretty much a regular baby hat. (No fancy horns or ears here!) Fair warning, though, the reviews all mention that the product tends to run small so you may need to size adjust accordingly.
Cuddly Cow Costume
I adore this cow costume for toddlers because it’d be a really fun way for an early toddler to get into the spirit of dressing up. My son recognizes a few animals (he’s 21 months) and this cow costume would have him mooing all night. Seriously. Moos for days. Like many of the other halloween costumes, the reviews mention that this runs a bit small so you may want to size up. Kids can wear shoes on underneath the foot straps of this outfit.
Baby Ghostbuster’s Outfit
One of my favorite things about babies? How rolly polly they are! This Stay Puff Marshmallow outfit would be adorable on an infant, especially as part of a ghostbusters family theme!
Classic Pumpkin Halloween Costume
Yep, I’m pretty sure I rocked this outfit when I was a baby several decades ago! It’s a classic choice and timeless for Halloween. Plus, because the outfit comes with the pumpkin and the hat, it’d be pretty easy to get right in terms of the child’s size since the base layers would be something your baby or toddler might already own. Plus, at a little more than $10, the price is certainly on point!
Lil’ Piggy Costume
Um, guys? Do we even need an explanation for why this made the recommendation list? That might be the cutest stinking piggie halloween costume I have ever ever seen. Seriously. I’m dying over here.
Oh-So-Scary Dino Costume
This might be the winner for our toddler this year! While it’s a little pricier than some of the other choices at just under $30, I love that it’s a jumpsuit and easy to put on. The tail swooshes well, which kids would adore, and the hat is a hoodie that can pop up or down without being lost or thrown aside. Plus, imagine all the growling! Ferocious!
