And, I’m not just talking about in the garage. Yup, it’s true. We keep a bottle of this bad boy in our kitchen. Why? Because this little McGyver of a household product is so handy I need to keep it a within arm’s reach. Curious to learn more?! Well, keep on reading.
7 Surprising and Helpful Uses of 3-IN-ONE® Multi-Purpose Oil
Here’s the thing: I’m going to be honest with you guys: I didn’t get into DIY projects well into my adulthood. It’s true. My adolescence was spent happily eating cookies and reading library books in bed.
Yep, I learned my DIY ways in my late twenties, when my now husband and I started making our house a home.
So if you’re like me and fall head over boots in love with DIY tips, tricks, and shortcuts, then hold onto your shoelaces. Because this magic bottle of 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil might just turn into your most loved household product. Why? Lemme dive into 7 surprisingly helpful uses you might not have considered (plus 2 bonus uses!).
Unsqueak Door Hinges
Let me tell you a little math equation that really blew my mind.
Sleeping Baby + Squeaking Doors = Total Disaster
All my mama readers? This one is for you. Do yourself a solid and grab some 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil. Lubricate those door hinges before you put your angel to bed. And ta-da! No more tip toeing out the door like a thief.
(Has anyone else done that? There’s NO WORSE FEELING then when you juuuuuust make it to the door, only to have it creaaaaak on your way out and wake the baby.)
Lubricate Nuts and Bolts
Have you ever needed to unscrew a nut from a bolt but just couldn’t get it to turn?
Welp, here’s another super helpful use for 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil! Before you twerk your biceps huffing and puffing with your wrench, apply a drop or two to the bolt threads. Once the wrench is able to get even just the smallest bite on the bolt, the lubricant will make it oh-so-much easier to turn.
Done and done!
Smooth Bike Chains
Remember those days when you and your honey would tra-la-la down the bike trail, peddling sweetly while the sun setting romantically behind you both?
Yeah, that happened …about six years ago. Since then, our bikes have kind of sat and sat and sat, gathering dust and grime and who knows what.
(Anyone else have that happen? Trade in your bike for a kid?)
But you know what? We just moved into a new home and there’s a beautiful bike trail right behind our house. My husband has been itching to ride. And rather than send his bike to a shop, he wants to clean it himself.
3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil to the rescue! Add a few drops, then spin the chain, running a clean microfiber cloth along the chain teeth. Not only will the oil lubricate the chain, but it’ll protect it from rust. Smooth ridin’, here we come.
We also use this on my son’s little balance bike. He grows so fast that we need to keep raising up the seat! And you know what? That little seat raiser latch thingie used to be so hard to open and close!
But now… Smooth like buttah.
Unstick Garden Shears
Okay, not gonna lie. I don’t have a green thumb. I don’t even have a green pinkie toe.
But you know what I do have?! The nicest mother-in-law in the world. Not only that, but she’s pretty mean with some gardening tools.
When we moved into our new home, I spun her around our backyard, pointing out the overgrown roses and hydrangeas and effectively relinquished all control to her Kelly green hands.
That woman can work a pair of gardening shears, I tell ya. Our roses are the pride of the block, no thanks to any effort of mine.
To say thanks, I keep her clippers in top working order. A drop of 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil on her gardening shears? Nothing says love like some well-lubricated clippers.
Protect Sewing Machines
I love sewing. Here’s the problem: sewing doesn’t love me.
Back in 2011, I convinced myself that binge-watching Project Runway was sufficient training to make my own clothing (an incorrect assumption, BTW.)
But I’ll tell ya what, that $90 Amazon sewing machine has lasted through more well-intended DIY projects than I ever imagined.
When I work it too hard, though, my sewing machine kind of sounds like a cat. Like a really unhappy cat.
I’m now giving my fearless machine some love. A drop or two of 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil on the moving parts will lubricate and protect at least until Project Runway season 25.
Unstick Drawer Slides
As a working mama, I can often be found sitting at my computer desk, my baby in my lab, trying to type with seventeen pounds of wiggly lump on my lap. Not an easy task.
My daughter makes it especially hard because she’s determined to open and shut my desk drawer over and over and over again.
And you know what? That drawer is surprisingly LOUD.
(My desk was another relatively cheapie Amazon purchase that’s lasted a surprisingly long time.)
Next time she goes down to nap, you betcha that I’m going to be grabbing my 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil and lubricating the drawer slides.
Then, even if she’s dead set on expelling all of the contents of my desk drawer on the floor, at least it’ll be a quiet disaster.
I think a few of you might know this, but we recently moved to Central Cali. And the sunshine state is getting pretty bright these days. Think 120 degrees in the summer. UGH.
It’s the kind of hot that makes you feel sticky even when the AC is running.
I have a little fan on my toes at night (cold nighttime toes for the win!), but the sound of a fan whirring drives me bonkers. (And they say a fan whirring is supposed to be a relaxing sound. Wrong, wrong, wrong.)
What’s a nocturnal mama to do? Pretty sure you got it by now. 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil is excellent for lubricating fan blades and moving parts to keeping fans running smoothly and quietly.
Now for some other 3-IN-ONE products that come in super handy:
Fix Stuck Locks
Guys. You want to know what’s SUPER FRUSTRATING. Let me tell ya.
Taking five whole minutes to leash the dog and find my shoes, then put my wiggly daughter in her stroller, and park the stroller outside the garage, only to get locked out of the front door trying to get the dog.
What’s even more annoying? Realizing the front door wasn’t actually locked. Just stuck somehow. It was a whiny dog, whiny baby, whiny mama kind of situation, which is a terrible kind of situation to have.
I haven’t yet used my 3-IN-ONE Lock Dry Lube, a quick-drying lock lubricant that will loosen and protect all types of stuck locks, on the lock, but I’m coming for ya, front door. I’m coming.
(Edit: by the time of publication, that lock works like a boss thanks to 3-IN-ONE Lock Dry Lube. Open sesame!)

Lubricate Garage Doors
Remember how I mentioned my sewing machine kind of sounded like a mad cat? Well, our garage door? Think angry bear. There’s more grunting and puffing with that poor garage door than in the forest, you guys.
When my 6’6” husband comes home, I’m handing him a lemonade, a ladder, and some 3-IN-ONE Garage Door Lube, a quick-drying lubricant for garage door systems with doesn’t leave a messy liquid behind.
(Yep, honey, if you’re reading this, you got some work to do!) I’d do it myself but we’ve only got a little 3-step ladder and this mama can’t quite reach!
Once we add a little love to the garage door tracks, our bear of a door will rumble a little more quietly.
